Mark Harmon (Leroy Jethro Gibbs) will be back for ninth season of NCIS

NCIS was recently renewed for a ninth season meaning that most popular show on television would be entertaining its hufe fanbase yet again. Now, you didn't really think they'd be doing it without their esteemed leader did you?

CBS knew that Mark Harmon's current deal was scheduled to expire this May so they worked overtime to get him locked down as Leroy Jethro Gibbs. They successfully negotiated a two-year deal with Harmon meaning the head-slaps are here to stay.

The higher-ups at CBS were always confident that Harmon wuold be back and a few weeks ago, he was also named America's favorite TV personality. Abandoning the role that has gotten him to that point would have been a bit of a foolish move, but I believe we all knew he'd stick around.

NCIS recently hit an all-time record for ratings at the beginning of February with 22.85 million viewers. That is just incredible for a series that is closing in on a decade on the air.
