Chiptune Jukebox: The rare Dreamcast Soundtrack Vinyl

A few years ago, Sega introduced the ill-named Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection for the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.  It was a solid collection of some of the finest games during the 16-bit era, and definitely works as a good introduction for gamers that didn’t grow up in that time.  I enjoyed most of the games in the collection so much (Vectorman sucks in retrospect and no one can tell me different) that I earned my first PS3 Platinum Trophy through it.

In Australia, things were different and way better.  Those lucky chaps not only got a better title (Sega Mega Drive Ultimate Collection), but also an amazing vinyl soundtrack for a pre-order bonus.  Limited to only 3,500 copies worldwide, it was a great piece of swag that one resides in the homes of collectors and anxious eBay sellers.

Sega is once again offering a limited edition vinyl to commemorate the release of the Dreamcast Collection, but once again it will only be available to Australian audiences.   The five tracks will include cuts from Sonic Adventure, Space Channel 5 Part 2, and Crazy Taxi.  The sleeve is elegantly designed to look like a PAL Dreamcast and the vinyl itself is a classy and beautiful white.  I hate life.

If you happen to not live in the region, the Sega of America blog is looking to give away a limited number of vinyl copies as part of their frequent online contests.  Good luck on getting one so you can send it to me.  What?
