The two hit Discovery Channel series set in the Alaskan wilderness have been greenlit for a second season, according to an announcement in a February 18, 2011 press release from Discovery Networks. Gold Rush: Alaska and Flying Wild Alaska have been renewed, according to the announcement by Clark Bunting, President and General Manager, Discovery Channel.
Both Friday night series have been ratings winners for the network, with Gold Rush Alaska the #1 new series on all of television on Friday nights*, and Flying Wild Alaska premiering on January 14 as the highest rated new series premiere in network history. The series have averaged more than 3 million and 2 million viewers per premiere episode, respectively.
Gold Rush: Alaska wrapped its regular season Friday, February 18. On Friday, February 25 15 10:00 p.m. ET/PET there will be a one hour special, Full Disclosure, with footage that has not been seen before and new interviews with the gold miners. The next mining season will begin in the spring.

Flying Wild Alaska, which airs on Fridays at 9PM ET/PT through March 18, follows the unconventional Tweto family that rules Alaska's most dangerous skies. Operating their family-run airline, the Twetos battle unforgiving Alaska weather and terrain to transport life's necessities to one of the most remote and extreme regions of America. .
