Mayor Bloomberg likes his beer on the rocks?

Belive it or not, Mayor Bloomberg drinks his beer on the rocks.

"I actually put ice in my beer," Hizzoner told an incredulous crowd yesterday at a ribbon-cutting for Brooklyn Brewery's latest expansion.

"Yeah, I know," he said. "It's how I've always done it."

Coming on the heels of his crack last week about drunken Irishmen on Fifth Ave. during the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Bloomberg's cold confession stumped city bartenders and tipplers.

"He's out of touch with New York City, which is full of people, bars and the Irish," said Joanna Janes, co-owner of Tom & Jerry's on Elizabeth St., who insisted she's never heard of anyone drinking their beer with ice.

Added Tom O'Reilly, the bartender at Dempsey's on the Bowery: "If he is putting it in Guinness, then he's an idiot."

Actor Mark Epperson contemplated his glass at Dempsey's and whether beer on the rocks should be called a "Bloomberg special."

"It works for my Coke," said Epperson, 43. "I'll give it a try."

At one of New York's most storied taverns, McSorley's, Bloomberg-style beer turns out to be a regular request - not that bartender Steven Zwaryczuk ever complies.

"Some people like it extra cold," said Zwaryczuk, who has been pouring mugs at McSorley's for 37 years. "Whatever floats your boat."

On the tavern wall is a Daily News photo of Bloomberg and Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly with mugs of beer at the bar's 150th anniversary seven years ago.

Zwaryczuk scrutinized the photo and noted, "No ice in his beer."
