Boiler Room Theatre revives classics

Take the opportunity to catch up on some classics this year as Williamson County's professional Boiler Room Theatre kicks off its 11th season with a host of recognizable names.

First up in the "Be Entertained" lineup is the sure-shot Annie Get Your Gun.

The musical, which tells the love story of Annie Oakley (Corrie Miller) and Frank Butler (Matt Baugher) through Irving Berlin songs like There's No Business Like Show Business and Anything You Can Do, runs Friday through March 12. It's the 1999 revival version, a bit more streamlined, politically correct and vocally jazzier than the 1946 original.

Performances are at
8 p.m. Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as
8 p.m. March 10 and 2 p.m. Feb. 20 and March 6. There's also a special "Cupid's Shot" event on Feb. 14, with a spirits-and-sweets reception at Southgate Studios in the Factory at Franklin from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., followed by an 8 p.m. show in the theater nearby.

Tickets for the Valentine's fete are $35 for the reception or $50 for the reception and show. Otherwise, they're $19-$27, and Tuesday shows are two for $27.

From there, the season moves on to Crimes of the Heart (March 25-April 23); I Do, I Do (May 13-June 11); A Streetcar Named Desire (June 24-July 23); The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Aug. 12-Sept. 10); The Rocky Horror Picture Show (Sept. 30-Oct. 31); and Oliver! (Nov. 17-Dec. 23).

Subscription passes are available, as well as a new "pick fave five" pass. The theater is in the Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Road, Building Six.
