The extradition of accused Russian arms dealer Viktor Bout may have been approved in the hope the United States will arrest and extradite fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in return, Puea Thai MP for Chiang Mai Surapong Towichakchaikul claimed on Thursday.
Mr Surapong said he suspected the government might have made a secret deal with Washington.
The Puea Thai MP said he did not want to see Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva "burn up his own country", pointing out that Russia had expressed great dissatisfaction over the decision.
