Zahra Baker case: Elisa Baker, slain girl’s stepmom, married 7 times
On Thursday, the findings of a media investigation were released, indicating Elisa Baker, the stepmother of slain North Carolina girl, Zahra Baker, was married seven times and allegedly committed bigamy in the process.
Zahra, 10, was reported missing from their Hickory home by her father, Adam Baker, on Oct. 9, 2010. He told authorities he hadn’t seen the girl for days, but that his wife -- Zahra’s stepmother Elisa -- told him she had seen the girl in her bedroom at 2:30 a.m. that morning. The dismembered girl’s remains were discovered by authorities in different locations in November.

Elisa is behind bars on several charges, including obstruction of justice for writing a fraudulent ransom note related to the case. She was also indicted last month for bigamy with authorities alleging she was married to Adam as well as another man at the same time.
An Associated Press investigation into Elisa's past found that at one point she may have been married to as many as three men at the same time.
The probe into the personal life of Elisa Baker found that she married four different men in Gaffney, South Carolina between 1987 and 1998. Her first two marriages appear to be valid, according to WSPA -- her first annulled because she was a minor.
Her third marriage was to Andrew Harris Jr. who she divorced on Dec. 14, 1995 -- 10 months after walking down the aisle with Darrell Putnam, reports WSPA. By the time Putnam annulled the marriage in 1999, Elisa had said “I do” two more times.
Her fifth husband spoke to the AP, saying his 1997 marriage to Elisa was so traumatic he will never wed again.
The sixth man to marry Elisa was Aaron Young. The two became husband and wife in 1998 and when she married Zahra’s father, Adam -- her seventh husband -- she appears to have been married to Allred and Young as well. This would mean her last two marriages were not valid.

The coroner has yet to determine what caused Zahra to die, despite the recent release of her death certificate. No one has been charged in connection with her death.
