Kung Fu - the TV series

Kwai Chang Caine is a half American, half Chinese orphan who ends up in the Shaolin Temple.  After his master is killed by the Emperor's nephew, Caine avenges him and kills the nephew.

Caine is forced to flee to America for his life and in the hopes of finding his half-brother.  Along his travels, Caine uses his kung fu skills to help people.  And thru flashbacks, you get to see Caine learning various lessons throught his time at the temple.

The success of the pilot episode led to a successful series.  To this day you cannot speak of the kung fu arts without thinking about the TV series that starred David Carradine.  There are those that claim that the show sparked their intrest in the martial arts.

Controversy followed the show.  Claims that the idea was taken from Bruce Lee.  Why an Asian character was played by a Non-Asian.  And Carradine's martial arts abilities were often questioned.

But there is no argument that Kung Fu did not help to generate intrest in the Asian culture and martial arts.  And that this East meets Western series will remain a kung fu movie legend.
