Keith Olbermann, MSNBC suddenly decide to part ways

It may very well be one of the larger surprises we have seen in quite some time, but Keith Olbermann is now saying goodbye to MSNBC. In a statement, the network proclaimed that the host would be done following the show that aired on Friday:

"MSNBC thanks Keith for his integral role in MSNBC's success and we wish him well in his future endeavors."

At the end of the day, the circumstances surrounding Keith's departure are really unknown in many ways. Keith had been suspended last year following a donation to the Democratic Party (something that was against protocol), and more recently was under fire for his harsh (and profane) criticism of both Fox News and rival Bill O'Reilly.

On "Countdown" Friday, Keith was actually kind as he thanked all of his viewers, talked about the legacy of his show, and praised those who took the opportunity to give back to the community.

What do you make of Keith's departure?
