Fox 2000 is going deeper into the book biz, signing a first-look deal with book development company Paper Lantern Lit, which works on Young Adult books and with up-and-coming writers.
At the same time, it has made a deal with the company's co-founder, Lauren Oliver, to pick up the rights to Oliver's second novel, the recently published Delirium.
The deal gives Fox 2000 first crack to develop and produce projects based on the Paper Lantern catalog and its writers, plus Oliver.
Delirium, which hit the sixth spot on the New York Times' Children's Chapter Book Bestseller list in its first week of release, is set in a dystopian world where love is a curable disease and where compassion and affection are forbidden, according to Fox 2000.
The project was optioned by producer Paula Mazur and Miami bookseller Mitchell Kaplan through their Mazur/Kaplan Company before bringing it to Fox 2000.
Fox 2000 and Oliver first got together last year when the arm picked up the rights to the author's teen novel Before I Fall.
Oliver founded Paper Lantern Lexa Hillyer last year; it has already sold 13 books to U.S publishers.
