Steel Magnolia has crisscrossed the country in the few weeks since its self-titled debut album was released in January, signing autographs and introducing media and fans on both coasts to their new music.
Tonight, members Meghan Linsey and Joshua Jones are looking forward to doing the same thing in Nashville, as they host a record release show at Wildhorse Saloon. The concert marks the first time the duo have played the Wildhorse stage since they won the CMT talent/reality show Can You Duet in 2009 and the record label contract that went with it.
"I think it's going to be comfortable going back," Linsey said. "It's going to feel even more at home for me because I worked across the street for two years before we got on the show. It will be nice to see the hometown crew. I know everybody who works downtown, and even the homeless people, so it will be interesting to see who shows up."
Linsey said she and Jones plan to play every song on the new album as well as some old-school country covers, including songs from Johnny and June Cash, Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn, and Kris Kristofferson.
"We just want to keep real," she said. "We want to keep it high energy and have a little something for everybody."
After the show, the pair are looking forward to another appearance: They're set to tape their first guest spot on Late Show with David Letterman on Monday. The show will air later that night.
"We are really, really excited about" Letterman, Linsey said. "I think it's really a huge opportunity for us to be able to do something that big on late night. I feel like we're reaching a milestone. I grew up watching that show, and I feel like David Letterman is the holy grail."
Steel Magnolia's Wildhorse Saloon album release show begins at 7:30 p.m. today.
Tickets are $10-$50 and are available at www.wildhorsesaloon.com. Fans can catch the duo on Late Show with David Letterman 10:35 p.m. Monday on CBS.

Josh Farro forms post-Paramore band
After a less-than-amicable parting with his former band in December, ex-Paramore guitarist Josh Farro has announced that he's formed a new group: Novel American.
Farro gave the scoop to MTV News, saying the band has "been on cloud nine" since its first practice. Farro will remain strictly a guitarist in the band. "I never wanted to sing," he said.
The three other members of the group — singer Van Beasley, drummer Tyler Ward and bassist Ryan Clark — are old high school friends of Farro's and were part of Nashville rock four-piece Cecil Adora. Cecil Adora also featured Justin York, who's acting as Farro's replacement on Paramore's upcoming South American tour.
Farro told MTV the band's immediate plans are to record an EP and play a few local shows. Until then, you can follow Novel American on Twitter (Twitter.com/NovelAmerican) for news.
