Chris Medina may not be on the American Idol, but the former contestant is definitely going to see some action. Tonight he will perform his song ‘What are Words’ on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno only two days after being cut as a contestant. In addition to the performance, the single was released Friday on iTunes and a new video was released and is getting the ‘Idol’ audience attention.
On Wednesday night Jennifer Lopez on American Idol found herself heartbroken after releasing the talented contestant who didn’t make the cut on the ‘Top 24.’ One of the few contestants that appeared to be a deal breaker in the decision making process, the judge didn’t know if she could continue after turning Medina down, especially after hearing his heartwarming story.
Chris Medina took to the American idol competition with his heart. His wife Juliana suffered a severe brain injury after a car accident and he told the audience he sang for her. Meeting the star judges and America seeing the passion in Chris and Juliana, there was an extraordinary connection with this contestant. The cut of the contestant didn’t just upset JLo, it upset America.

The song was written by Rodney Jerkins who was inspired by the 26-year-old contestants and Chris’s amazing journey on Idol.
