The San Francisco Fire Department has teamed with Working Essentials, a local nonprofit group, to ask for donations of essential hygiene tools that homeless people can use to spruce up for job interviews.
"The lack of accessibility to job readiness items is a major barrier to employment for individuals who are homeless," Fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said in a statement.
Generous San Franciscans are urged to bring toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner and, of course, soap to their local fire station.
The drive will run through the end of December.
