In the season's most emotional episode, the Teen Moms are forced to make key decisions that show who they really are as mothers and as individuals.
JENELLE
Jenelle has really been winning me over these past few episodes and, despite her issues, she really seems to be trying to get her son back and provide a better life for him than she had.
Unfortunately, she's attached herself to a deadbeat loser, Kiefer, whom her mother Barbara (rightfully) dislikes. He still can't find a job and the two have basically become drifters, sleeping at their friend Mike's family's beach house while they're away. Now that they're coming back, the pair needs to find some new digs – fast.
So Jenelle turns to Barbara, asking her to let them stay with her. Barbara is skeptical but gives in. At first, everyone is getting along, but after a while the tension begins to mount as Barbara's nagging reaches new heights. Then when she lets Jenelle and Kiefer babysit Jace alone, all hell breaks loose.
Barbara comes home to find a juice stain on the couch (Jace spilled his bottle) and unleashes her fury on Jenelle, blaming her and threatening to kick her out. For her part, despite pretending at first she didn't notice the stain, Jenelle stays calm and collected while her mom flies off the handle.
But then Jenelle does something stupid ... as usual. Barbara catches her and Kiefer smoking weed on the porch and flips out. After screaming at them about how Kiefer is an unemployed deadbeat, she follows Jenelle upstairs as she packs her stuff up to leave. Shockingly, for the first time, we see finally see why Barbara treats her daughter the way she does.
"This guy is dragging you down, Jenelle. He's another Andrew. He's only nice to you for your money."
"Don't you hear what I'm saying to you?" she cries, tears streaming down her face. "I love you - you're always with these guys who are losers. I don't want to see you dragged down again. I love you."
This may be the first time Barbara has said "I love you" all season.
With nowhere else to go, Jenelle and Kiefer head back to the beach house, as Mike's family has put off their visit for another night.
"I'm sick of living this way," Jenelle sighs. "I hate when something goes good and then it always goes bad. It's happened all my life."
Kiefer tries to comfort her, but admits he may have to go back to New Jersey. This causes Jenelle breaks down and reveals why she keeps clinging to loser boyfriends.
"If I move back with my mom, you're just gonna leave me and then I'm not gonna have no one," she sobs. "No one to turn to to cry ... no one to tell me they love me everyday .... I want everyone to stop thinking I'm such a f***ed up mom when I'm trying to do the best I can for Jace."
