Hackers group “Anonymous” threatens cyberwar (Watch Video)

DALLAS – In yet another threat to U.S. security besides WikiLeaks, Barrett Brown, 29, a leader of a worldwide computer hackers group known as Anonymous, is now threatening a new attack of “cyberwar.”

Brown who considers himself to be a “propagandist” for Anonymous said the attack would be against major U.S. corporations and government officials he considers to be the citadels of American power.

“It’s a guerilla cyberwar — that’s what I call it,” Brown said.  “It’s sort of an unconventional, asymmetrical act of warfare that we’ve involved in. And we didn’t necessarily start it. I mean, this fire has been burning.”

Anonymous has threatened big corporations in the country before and has been the target of an FBI investigation that has included raids on homes of suspected hackers.

Brown admits Anonymous has tough tactics.  Brown said Anonymous members collect personal information about company employees such as Social Security numbers and home addresses.  He said some employees even get death threats.

“Anonymous is not what people think,” Brown said. “They are vicious individuals and they are having the time of their lives because of all the press they are receiving.”
