Scranton drug dealer arrested at going away party

A Scranton man just wanted to have a party Tuesday night, a pre-sentencing going-away party. As it turns out, Keith Cardone had his party cut short and got a trip to jail a little sooner than expected thanks to some nifty police work.

The 28-year-old decided to throw himself a party at the Scranton Goodfella's, before he faced sentencing for his role in a $2.7 million cocaine and marijuana drug distribution ring that was busted in February of last year. Cardone decided to advertise the bash on his Facebook page and it was brought to the attention of two Scranton police officers.

Officer Lawrence Spathelf and Detective Sergeant David Mitchell went to the bar and conducted surveillance on Cardone and eventually arrested him early Wednesday morning on an outstanding warrant from last October, reports the Times-Tribune.

"Evidently he was excited about his going away, so we decided we'd help him out a little bit," said Scranton Police Chief Dan Duffy.

It must have been a bg party considering Cardone has over 1,400 friends on Facebook.

Mr. Cardone was arraigned on one count of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and is currently in the Lackawanna County Prison on $5,000 bail.
