The Bombay High Court on Monday confirmed that the death penalty would be upheld for the terrorist Ajmal Kasab. The court termed the case as the ‘rarest of the rare’ case, where the convict has no scope for rehabilitation.
"There is no scope of reform or rehabilitation of the convicted accused. It is a rarest of rare case and the court cannot be more confident than it is today that death penalty must be given,” Justices Ranjana Desai and RV More said. Kasab had appeared in a white ‘kurta’ through video conferencing, where he was told by the court that he still has the option of filing an appeal in the Supreme Court.
Justice Desai also added that, Kasab had always maintained an angry look during the court proceedings and that he did not seem to have any regrets for all that he had done.
Kasab was convicted with multiple murder charges, which included conspiracy and waging war against the nation.
