DNC raises $7.2M in January

The Democratic National Committee says it has raised $7.2 million in January but has more than twice that amount in debt.

In campaign finance reports filed Friday, the Democrats' central committee said it has $9.1 million in the bank and $16.8 million in debt owed in loans and bills to vendors.

The Republican National Committee has not yet filed its January report. But newly elected Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus says he took the reins in January with $23 million in debt. Since taking control, he has been working to erase that debt.
