The celebrities were required to perform two full dances this week on Dancing With the Stars, including a first-ever “Instant Dance.” On a night when tensions ran higher than ever, Jennifer Grey, Kyle Massey and Brandy all were able to pull in perfect tens from the judges. So, how did they do this during Dancing With the Stars most challenging week to date?
Jennifer Grey:
The Dirty Dancing star pushed through her knee pain this week to score three perfect tens from Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba. Despite a partial and painful tearing in her tendon, Grey and partner Derek Hough received a perfect “30” score for their Rumba “Instant Dance” to Foreigner’s “Waiting For a Girl Like You.” Bruno Tonioli exclaimed, “This challenge brings out the best in people. It was breathtaking, sensual and classy. Your extension was absolutely superb. Flawless!” Carrie Ann Inaba was also enamored by the performance and said, “You captured the moment. There is nothing so beautiful to me than someone reclaiming their power.” Len Goodman added, “We just saw great dancing.” Total score for Jennifer Grey’s “Instant Dance”: 30. When combined with her score of 27 for her individual Quickstep performance, Jennifer Grey pulled in a total score for the evening of 57.
Brandy:
Brandy and her professional partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy pulled in three perfect 10’s from the judges on this week’s performance show of Dancing With the Stars. Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman both awarded the singer tens for her individual Waltz. Bruno Tonioli complemented Brandy after her performance by saying, “This was way more than a dance. It was an exquisite interpretation of a song. You were totally immersed into the character.” Carrie Ann Inaba didn’t award a ten because she saw a situation with Brandi’s neck during the dance. However, head judge Len Goodman said, “I’m not going to make a point about your neck because I was overwhelmed by that dance." Brandy’s total judges’ score for her Waltz: 29. She also received another ten by Bruno Tonioli for her Cha Cha Cha “Instant Dance. “I loved the fabulous performance. It was truly a fantastic night,” he said after the performance. Len Goodman and Carrie Ann Inaba didn’t agree completely and both gave Brandy a 9. Total score for “Instant Dance”: 28.
Kyle Massey:
The Disney star received all 9’s from the judges for his graceful Viennese Waltz, but he was awarded his first tens of the season for his “Instant Dance” Jive to “Good Golly Miss Molly.” Bruno said, “That was top of the league for entertainment value and creativity. You didn’t lose a beat. I loved every second of it.” Len Goodman liked the dance’s high energy, but wished Kyle had a bit more finesse, so he awarded him a 9. Carrie Ann Inaba disagreed and questioned, “That was the ‘Instant Dance’? It was like that song was made for you. That was by far the most fun I’ve had as a judge all season.” Kyle’s score for his first dance, the Viennese Waltz: 27. Score for “Instant Dance”: 29.
