Less than one month since splitting from husband Jordan Bratman, Christina Aguilera has found herself a rebound.
The singer was unsuccessful in her attempt to hide her new man, Matthew D. Rutler, from paparazzi Friday night after the two went out on a double date to L.A.'s SoHo House with friends Nicole Richie and Joel Madden
Aguilera, 29, has been quietly seeing Rutler, a set assistant whom she met during her upcoming film "Burlesque," according to People.com. While the two reportedly started out as friends, their relationship has since developed into something more.
"It's not serious yet, but it's something she is exploring and finding comfort in," a source told the mag. "It's new and she's taking it day by day. She met [Matthew] on set and, during a difficult time, leaned on as a friend. After she and Jordan separated, the friendship turned romantic."
Following the announcement of her split from Bratman, Aguilera opened up about her emotional despair in the November issue of Redbook.
"It's not easy, and there have been a lot of tears and sadness," she told the magazine. "It's impossible to redefine yourself and your life overnight."
"Thankfully, I have my mom and a small group of close friends who are there for me 24/7 and whom I can trust and depend on," she added. "On days when it feels impossible to even get out of bed, much less function as a mother, their support and encouragement have kept me moving forward."
Despite the heartache, Aguilera maintains that her son, Max, who will turn 3 in January, is the main man in her life.
"Thankfully, I have Max to keep me on a sane path," she told Redbook. "His needs and happiness are my top priorities, and my biggest concern is to protect him and make him feel safe."
