Ubi Workshop has released a developer diary to fill in fans a bit on the Assassin's Creed comic. The developers give us an insight to the protagonist, Nikolai Orelov and his connection to his ancestor, Daniel Cross, who is from the late 1990's. So this comic will have two different time lines going in, a modern and historical. The setting will take place in Russia.
The main point of creating the comic was to open up more of the Assassin's Creed story line which would include introducing new characters and roll out new locations, while having everything fit perfectly into the, already created, Assassin's Creed universe. Instead of using Ezio, who is already a popular character, they decided to introduce a new character in a new timeline.
Toward the end of the diary, you will catch that the developers have formed a bond with the characters that they have created and would like to have a game where the fans can play as these characters.
